US-based Nigerian personality, Mayowa Lambe, has filed a legal action against her ex-husband, Roby Ekpo, demanding ₦100 million in damages over alleged defamatory statements.
The move comes in response to Ekpo’s recent viral interview, where he made a series of explosive allegations about their failed marriage, including claims of infidelity, deception, and financial strain. In a cease-and-desist letter issued through her legal team, Lambe described the statements as false, damaging, and deliberately misleading.
Part of the legal notice reads: “It has come to our attention that you have engaged in a deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood using online platforms and public broadcasts, including ‘Honest Bunch,’ to spread fabricated narratives.”
Her lawyers also issued a strict warning, stating: “Warning: Failure to comply within three (3) days will result in legal proceedings and criminal complaints.”
The legal team further maintained that there is no existing marital relationship between Lambe and Ekpo, directly contradicting his public assertions. They demanded that he immediately cease all alleged defamatory statements, remove any false content, issue a public retraction and apology, and pay ₦100 million in damages.
The controversy escalated amid revelations that Lambe has remarried. She reportedly tied the knot with US-based gospel singer, David Ayuba, in Texas, a development that surprised many followers and raised questions about the timeline of her separation from Ekpo.
Shortly after the legal notice surfaced online, Ayuba publicly backed his wife by reposting the document on social media, accompanied by cryptic messages.
He wrote: “The path to greatness leaves no room for weakness, only strength. The ones in my corner understand me. I don’t owe explanations, and that’s enough.”
In another post, he added: “Falsehood may travel fast, but truth arrives with consequences.”
Earlier, Ekpo had initially reacted calmly to Lambe’s reported remarriage, wishing her well and expressing hope that the union would succeed. However, his tone later shifted during an emotional appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.
During the interview, he described their years together as “wasted” and made several personal claims about their relationship. Speaking on intimacy expectations, Ekpo said: “Satisfying her how? I would not have sx till I kill myself. One to two rounds are enough for me. I got married at the age of 37, I am going to be 48 this year, I am not a small boy.”*
He further explained that having intimacy twice a week worked for him, while alleging that Lambe preferred a more frequent schedule.
Ekpo also accused Lambe of deception during their marriage, alleging that she secretly used contraceptives and misled him about medical procedures related to conception.
