Nigerian-American actress and model, Adunni Ade, has revealed the reason she chose to keep the birth of her daughter away from public attention for more than two years.
The actress made the disclosure in a heartfelt Instagram post shared on her birthday, where she also announced for the first time that she had quietly welcomed a baby girl, identified as Baby Sal, two years ago.
According to her, the decision to keep her daughter out of the public eye was intentional and rooted in her desire for peace, privacy, and a more personal experience of motherhood away from constant scrutiny.
“Today, on my birthday, I’m finally sharing what we’ve protected for over two years,” she wrote. “This wasn’t an easy journey. It came with silent battles, moments that tested me, and a strength I had to grow into.”
She explained that while the public saw her normal life, she was privately navigating a deeply personal experience that shaped her in different ways.
“While the world saw one version of me, I was living something much deeper, much more personal,” she added.
Adunni Ade further stressed that choosing privacy was not about secrecy but about protecting her peace and fully enjoying motherhood.
“We chose privacy. Not because we owed anyone secrecy but because peace is priceless, and not everything good needs an audience,” she said.
Addressing possible speculation, the actress clarified that no relationship or family was broken in the process of welcoming her child.
“Not every single mother fits your assumptions. Not every story is a scandal. Not every blessing comes with drama attached,” she noted.
She described her daughter as a long-awaited gift and an answered prayer, saying the experience affirmed her belief in divine timing.
“Our baby girl is my evidence that God still writes beautiful stories in His own time,” she wrote.
The actress also highlighted the contrast between her public image and private life, noting that much of her personal journey remains unknown to the public.
“Adunni Ade online is one thing. Adunni Ade at home is something you may never fully understand, and that’s okay,” she added.
In a postscript, she dismissed rumours suggesting any disruption to existing relationships, insisting that her daughter’s arrival brought only love and peace.
