Nigerian media critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reacted to allegations made by reality TV star Phyna, denying claims that he ever asked to sleep with her.
Speaking in a viral video clip circulating on social media, VDM challenged Phyna to release the evidence she claimed to possess, insisting that he never made such advances toward her.
“Phyna said that I, VeryDarkMan, wanted to sleep with her. She said she has evidence, I will like to see the evidence first because I have never told Phyna that I wanted to sleep with her,” he stated.
The outspoken social commentator further explained that even if such a conversation had happened, he sees nothing wrong with two consenting adults expressing interest in each other.
According to him, seeking consent between adults should not be turned into a scandal, stressing that both he and Phyna are unmarried adults.
“Number 2, what if I told Phyna that I wanted to sleep with her. Is there a problem with that? Both of us are adults. If I tell you that I want to sleep with you, that would be me seeking your consent,” he said.
VDM also expressed relief that the allegation did not involve more serious accusations such as assault or rape.
“Thank God say, you no talk say I want to rape you or spike your drink so that I can knack you. For you to talk say you get evidence mean say I even asked you. That’s the way it should be done as an adult and thank God say you no be underage,” he added.
He concluded by reiterating that he never made such a request but questioned why it would be considered an issue if he had.
“So, even if VDM talk say he want sleep with you, what is the problem? I’m not married and she’s also not married. So what really is the matter even if I talk am? I no talk am ooo but what if I talk am,” he said.
