The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially announced that the movie star will be laid to rest on June 18, 2026, in Abia State following his tragic death at the age of 40.
In a heartfelt statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday, the family confirmed the funeral arrangements and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from fans, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers since news of his passing broke.
“With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the statement read.
The family described the late actor as a man whose life was defined by love, generosity, faith, and warmth, noting that his presence brought joy and comfort to many people.
“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished.
“His presence filled rooms, lifted hearts, and created memories that will remain with us forever,” the family added.
According to the announcement, a service of songs will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, from 4pm to 6pm, with guests expected to wear white.
The wake keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
His funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
The family also invited fans, colleagues, and loved ones to join them in celebrating the actor’s life and enduring legacy.
“We warmly invite family, friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers to join us as we honor and celebrate his beautiful life, enduring legacy, and the precious memories he gave us all,” the statement said.
Alexx Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, after months of illness, sparking widespread mourning across the entertainment industry as actors, musicians, broadcasters, and public figures paid tribute to his talent and contribution to Nollywood.
