The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Nigeria.
The announcement was made as part of efforts to enable Muslim faithful and Nigerians at large observe the annual religious festival, which is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed globally by Muslims in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
