President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace tax payment as a civic responsibility and a vital contribution to national development, stating that taxpayers are active stakeholders in the country’s growth and progress.
Speaking from the main stage of the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, President Tinubu said paying taxes should not be viewed merely as a legal obligation, but as a commitment to nation-building and economic transformation.
“If you pay taxes whether as a business or an individual, you’re not just a resident, you’re a stakeholder in nation-building,” the President said while addressing business leaders, investors, and policymakers from across Africa.
Tinubu stressed that sustainable economic development depends on responsible citizenship, transparency, and a strong tax culture that supports government investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and public services.
