Retail prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, have begun to decline across Nigeria, offering some relief to households after weeks of sustained price increases.
According to a report by Channels Television, the reduction is being observed in several parts of the country, although prices remain inconsistent due to factors such as location, transportation costs from supply depots and retailers’ profit margins.
Checks by the broadcaster showed that cooking gas currently sells for between ₦1,100 and ₦1,350 per kilogram in Lagos, depending on the retail outlet.
The report noted that while consumers are beginning to enjoy lower prices, a uniform rate has yet to be achieved nationwide because of varying logistics and operational costs.
