Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to remarks made by social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over the ongoing legal controversy involving businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, also known as Blord.
Sowore said he would not engage in a war of words with VDM, insisting that his involvement in the matter was strictly to ensure justice and protect Blord’s legal rights.
His response came shortly after VDM appeared in court alongside Blord, where both were seen exchanging handshakes, a moment that sparked speculation of a possible reconciliation in the case.
Following the court appearance, VDM reportedly criticised Sowore, accusing him of escalating the dispute and playing a role in the legal process against Blord.
Reacting, Sowore defended his position, saying his intervention was aimed at securing bail and ensuring that due process was followed.
“I’ve told you guys that my intervention in the case is to ensure that BLORD’s rights are not trampled upon and is granted bail so the case would be discontinued. My lawyers have been directed as such,” he said.
He added that developments in the case aligned with his earlier stance.
“According to him (VDM), he has met with Blord and resolved privately, but we brought BLORD out of prison. The judge has abandoned the case. Everything I’ve told you has come to pass,” Sowore stated.
Addressing alleged threats directed at him, the activist said he was prepared to face consequences if necessary.
“And about the threats against me, I already told you people that I’m ready to make myself a scapegoat so that people would not suffer. If I have to go down so that people do not go down, I am ready to go down,” he said.
Sowore, however, dismissed the idea of engaging in a public feud with VDM, noting that such exchanges were not his style.
“You do not expect me to trade words with him (VDM): it is out of my character. I am more interested in the police who brought us to this situation in the first place,” he added.
The dispute stems from an ongoing legal battle between VDM and Blord, which began after allegations of impersonation, forgery, and conspiracy were raised against the businessman. Blord has denied all charges.
The case recently took a new turn after the presiding judge reportedly recused herself, ordering the file to be reassigned by the Chief Judge and adjourning proceedings for further mention.
