Hundreds of Nigerian youths have taken to social media to express frustration and disappointment following the release of screening results for the ongoing recruitment exercise conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
The reactions followed an update posted by the board on its official X account, directing applicants to check their screening status, upload required documents, and prepare for the next stage of the recruitment process.
However, shortly after the announcement, the comment section of the post was flooded with complaints from applicants who claimed they had been disqualified despite meeting the requirements or performing well during the recruitment process.
Some applicants questioned the credibility of the screening exercise, while others alleged technical issues with the recruitment portal.
One user, identified as @VALESIA4796231, expressed disappointment after discovering that they had not been shortlisted.
“After waiting since last year till now this is what I got. That’s why this country will never be better because I’m from Igbo was not unable to be shortlisted, despite my score in the test I took online,” the applicant wrote.
Another applicant, Razan Generals (@nasbee_ng), lamented the outcome after spending hours trying to complete the process.
“After staying all night, only for Nigeria to happen to me ooo. We try again next time,” the user commented.
Perhaps one of the most viral reactions came from an applicant identified as Nwankwo Stallone, who alleged that the recruitment portal produced the same result even when random entries were submitted.
“This people are jokers. I put random words with emojis, they still said same thing. They didn’t even bother checking it lol. Nigeria your country. Just try it. Just put emojis with random words and see what it will say lol,” he wrote.
Several applicants also raised concerns about alleged technical glitches on the platform.
A user identified as Hassy claimed that after entering his examination number to verify his status, the portal displayed another applicant’s information.
“I just checked my application using my own exam number and it’s someone else’s own that is showing. How do I go about it or what should I do please?” he asked.
Similarly, another applicant, Abel Felix, called attention to what he described as errors in the medical screening schedule.
“Hello CDCFIBNG, I write to bring to your notice the incorrect dating for medical screening date on the CDCFIB recruitment exercise. I chose June 4, 2026, for my screening, which has passed. The rest dates there also are for May 2026, which has passed,” he stated.
Another commenter, @iamjoeblac, suggested that the recruitment portal might still be undergoing updates, noting that he continued to receive a rejection message despite entering the correct application number.
“Hope you guys are still working on the site. Because even in correct application number still get the REGRET MESSAGE,” he wrote.
The complaints have sparked widespread debate online, with many applicants calling on CDCFIB to review the screening exercise and address concerns raised by candidates.
While the board has proceeded with arrangements for the next phase of recruitment, it has yet to issue an official response to the specific allegations and complaints posted by applicants under its announcement.
The CDCFIB recruitment exercise, which covers the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Federal Fire Service (FFS), attracted applications from thousands of young Nigerians seeking employment in the paramilitary agencies.
