The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced ongoing preventive maintenance at its Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substation, a development expected to cause scheduled power interruptions across several parts of Delta State.
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the maintenance exercise commenced on June 4, 2026, and is expected to continue daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until June 16, 2026.
According to the company, the maintenance work is part of efforts to improve efficiency and reliability on the transmission network. The project involves the connection of a bus coupler circuit breaker as well as the rehabilitation of five isolators on the main busbar.
As a result of the ongoing work, several 33kV feeders supplying electricity from the Effurun and Delta 132/33kV transmission substations will be affected. These include feeders serving Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Refinery I and II, Enerhen, Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Moneyman, and Beta Glass.
TCN explained that power supply will, however, be restored daily by 5:00 p.m. after the completion of maintenance activities, allowing the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (Benin DisCo) to resume electricity supply to customers.
The company assured that the maintenance is necessary to enhance grid stability and improve service delivery across the affected areas.
TCN also appealed for understanding from electricity consumers, expressing regret over any inconvenience caused during the period of the exercise.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this necessary maintenance work,” the statement read.
