Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage, has responded to criticism from a fan who called on her to speak more forcefully about Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
The exchange began on Instagram after the singer shared a promotional post, where a follower urged her to use her platform to draw attention to insecurity and other national challenges, arguing that her influence could help raise awareness.
In her response, Savage said she had previously spoken on such issues but was heavily criticised for it, adding that public reactions to her comments had discouraged similar expressions in the past.
The singer further explained that not all her contributions to national issues are visible on social media, noting that she supports causes in ways that are not always publicly disclosed.
According to her, she does not feel obligated to publicly document every action she takes, stressing that her efforts are ultimately known to God.
She maintained that criticism would not stop her from remaining involved in issues affecting the country, even if such efforts are not always shared online.
“When I spoke I was crucified for it but trust me that won’t stop me from still being active. Just know just because you might not see my post about it does not mean I am not doing anything. I just don’t have to validate my actions, God sees,” she wrote.
Savage also expressed hope that Nigerians would be guided with wisdom to overcome the country’s ongoing security challenges, adding that collective effort and understanding are needed to address the crisis.
