The Delta State Government has unveiled a series of civil service reforms and a new ICT Hub aimed at strengthening efficiency, innovation, and modernisation in public service delivery.
This was disclosed by the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim I. Oseji, during a press briefing held on Monday at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information, Asaba, as part of activities marking the 2026 Civil Service Week themed “Reforms, Resilience and Results.”
Oseji said the reforms were designed to reposition the state’s civil service as a more dynamic, technology-driven, and result-oriented institution.
“We are taking deliberate steps to strengthen our institutions, equip our personnel, and modernize our service processes. This includes enhancing digital infrastructure, deepening inter-agency collaboration, and promoting meritocracy and inclusiveness across our civil service structure,” she said.
According to her, the celebration is not only symbolic but also a reflection of ongoing reforms targeted at improving governance outcomes across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“This is not only about aligning with a global agenda; it is about delivering real, measurable progress in every Ministry, Department, and Agency. Whether in education, healthcare, environmental management, or economic planning, the public service remains the engine of government,” Oseji added.
The Head of Service explained that key initiatives introduced under her leadership include digitalisation of processes, training of civil servants on e-governance, establishment of an ICT Hub, and staff welfare schemes such as transport support.
She also noted that capacity-building programmes have been expanded to include both physical and virtual training sessions covering areas such as financial literacy, agriculture, digital skills, and administrative efficiency.
Oseji further highlighted the reactivation of key programmes such as the Civil Service Week celebration, Breakfast Dialogue, Bureaucrat Publication, and performance monitoring systems.
“We are building a civil service that is disciplined, digitally driven and citizen-focused. Our goal is to make Delta State a model for efficient public administration,” she said.
She expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support, particularly in approving resources for the successful hosting of the 2026 Civil Service Week.
