The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified concerns surrounding the “No Result Yet” notification being experienced by some candidates in the ongoing UTME 2026 result release.
The board explained that the message is not an error but a deliberate system response applied to a specific category of candidates, particularly underage candidates whose results are being withheld pending full eligibility assessment.
JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that the clarification became necessary following a surge of complaints and enquiries from candidates and parents over delayed or unavailable results.
He explained that under existing regulations, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible for standard admission consideration into tertiary institutions.
According to him, candidates who fall below this requirement are placed under JAMB’s exceptional candidate policy, which requires them to demonstrate outstanding academic performance before their results and admission consideration can be finalised.
Under this arrangement, such candidates are expected to score a minimum of 320 in the UTME and also achieve at least 80 per cent in subsequent screening assessments before being considered for further admission processes.
JAMB stressed that only candidates who meet the required benchmark will proceed to the next stage of evaluation, while others will remain on hold.
The board further stated that the “No Result Yet” status will remain in place until the completion of all verification and screening processes for affected candidates.
JAMB urged candidates, parents, and stakeholders to remain patient, noting that the policy is aimed at maintaining discipline, credibility, and fairness within Nigeria’s tertiary education admission system.
