The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission), Ola Olukoyede, has commended the Jerry Eze Foundation for its contribution to crime prevention and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
Olukoyede made the remark during his speech at the Jerry Eze Foundation grant award ceremony, where beneficiaries were presented with $3,000 each as part of a financial empowerment programme aimed at encouraging productivity and reducing social vices.
According to the EFCC boss, initiatives such as the foundation’s empowerment programme play a significant role in supporting the Commission’s mandate of reducing crime and promoting lawful conduct among young Nigerians.
“You have taken 240 people who have the potential of committing crime. You have helped my mandate,” Olukoyede said.
He explained that by providing opportunities for young people, such interventions help redirect potential offenders towards more productive paths, thereby easing the burden of law enforcement agencies.
The EFCC chairman also urged Nigerians to maintain integrity and avoid actions that could undermine public trust or lead to criminal behaviour.
“Challenge Nigeria and stop abusing someone who is up there. Keep your heart righteous,” he added.
The event, organised by the Jerry Eze Foundation, focused on youth empowerment through financial grants and support programmes designed to promote entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment-driven crime.
