The Department of State Services (DSS) has amended and expanded the criminal charges against former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, increasing the counts from three to five over allegations linked to the unlawful access of a telephone conversation involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
El-Rufai, who also previously served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court in Abuja in connection with the alleged incident.
At the commencement of proceedings on Thursday, the prosecution informed the court that the original three-count charge had been reviewed and expanded to five counts, signaling a broader scope of allegations against the former governor.
Although details of the amended charges were not fully disclosed in open court, the case centers on claims that El-Rufai unlawfully accessed sensitive communications involving the National Security Adviser.
