The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry, Chibuzor Chinyere, has announced the suspension of plans to secure a husband for his autistic adopted daughter, Chiemeka, following an overwhelming response from prospective suitors.
The cleric disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, revealing that more than 1,000 applications had been received from interested individuals.
“Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended—more than a thousand applications. No more wedding, pending further directive from me,” he wrote.
The decision comes weeks after the pastor made public his intention to find a suitable husband for the 21-year-old, a move that drew widespread attention and mixed reactions.
Earlier, Mr Chinyere had outlined specific conditions for interested suitors, stating that only young and able-bodied men would be considered, while elderly individuals and persons living with disabilities would not qualify.
He had also announced a series of incentives attached to the proposed marriage, including a lifetime stipend for the groom and a house to be jointly owned by the couple.
“Lifetime salary, no foreign vacation. Free house forever. House built on the name of both of you. Regular unplanned supervision visits by OPM staff to be sure she is not maltreated,” he stated.
The cleric did not provide further details on the reason for suspending the marriage arrangement but indicated that further directives would be communicated.
The initiative followed a similar intervention by the pastor, who recently facilitated the marriage of an autistic young man under his care, identified as Aboy Chibuzor.
Aboy, who is non-verbal and requires assistance with daily activities, got married to a woman from Edo State on 29 March.
Chibuzor Chinyere first gained national attention in 2022 after offering fully funded scholarships to the Happie Boys, Mathew Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, to study in Cyprus.
