Chelsea Football Club have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior following a string of poor results, culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
The club confirmed the decision in an official statement, expressing appreciation for Rosenior’s professionalism and integrity since taking charge midway through the season. However, Chelsea acknowledged that recent performances have fallen short of expectations.
In the interim, Calum McFarlane has been appointed as head coach until the end of the campaign. He will be supported by the club’s existing backroom staff as Chelsea look to stabilise results.
The club stressed that its immediate priority remains securing European qualification and advancing in the FA Cup, despite the managerial change.
Chelsea also noted that the decision to part ways with Rosenior was not taken lightly, adding that a thorough process to appoint a permanent head coach will begin, with the aim of bringing long-term stability to the role.
The dismissal marks a significant shift for the club as it seeks to revive its season after a disappointing run of form.
