Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has encouraged Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards, telling the singer that awards no longer define his success.
Odumeje made the remarks while addressing his congregation in a video that has since gone viral on social media. In the clip, the cleric described Davido as a highly accomplished musician whose impact and legacy transcend trophies and accolades.
“There is one of our brothers that I love so much. That is a very great musician, and that is Davido. You are already a generational award, awarded a lot of awards,” Odumeje said.
According to him, Davido’s influence in global music makes further awards insignificant when compared to the value of his life and achievements.
“There is no award you will receive now that means anything. You have already been awarded every award you need. Your life is an award. Your step is an award,” he added.
The cleric also cautioned the singer against allowing criticism or mockery over the Grammy loss to affect his confidence or creativity.
“Don’t allow ordinary somebody to come and use it to quench the fire of your joy. Go and get more inspiration to shock the world with another new music,” Odumeje said.
He further advised Davido to avoid spaces where he is not celebrated, stressing that the music star remains one of the most influential figures in the industry.
“You are already on top of the world. The world is the one that will come into you. Don’t allow people to demoralise you, demoralise your quality, and make you weak,” he stated.
