Nigerian entrepreneur and nightlife mogul, Cubana Chief Priest, has come to the defence of content creator Peller, who trended online after repeatedly trying to get the attention of American streamer iShowSpeed during his first day in Lagos.
In a lengthy post shared on social media, Chief Priest praised Peller’s persistence and hustle, highlighting the courage it takes to pursue one’s goals despite rejection.
“Why do we like to tear down our own brother’s hustle or energy? Small boy like Peller dey hustle him way to meet Speed wey dey at the top for the business wey him dey do. Una dey mock am. There is no shame in hustle. I celebrate Peller’s energy to achieve his dream,” he wrote.
He added that the streaming industry, like many creative sectors, rewards boldness and shamelessness, emphasizing that setbacks and rejections are part of the journey to success. “Streaming is a game of shamelessness. Hunger will never stop being big because the hunger is there, so let him cook,” Chief Priest said.
The statement came in response to the viral moment when Peller, a Nigerian TikTok and Kick content creator, attempted multiple times to interact with iShowSpeed, including climbing onto his vehicle and riding a horse through traffic, during the American streamer’s Africa tour in Lagos. Many online commentators mocked Peller’s persistence, but Chief Priest urged Nigerians to celebrate the ambition and drive of their own talent.
“Now you guys see why he is bigger than most of you — because he is ready to push shame aside,” he continued, pointing out that even deliberate ignores from high-profile creators are part of management strategies and should not deter upcoming talents.
