Students of Dennis Osadebay University, Delta State have received a major financial boost after the Nigerian Education Loan Fund disbursed ₦124,100,200 to the institution under its student loan programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to an official acknowledgement letter issued by the university, the funds will cover 481 students who successfully applied for the loan through NELFUND.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, confirmed receipt of the disbursement in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of NELFUND.
The letter showed that the payment was made in two batches, with 169 students receiving ₦48,857,400 in the first tranche, while 312 students benefited from a second disbursement of ₦75,242,800, bringing the total amount released to ₦124,100,200 for all 481 beneficiaries.
Expressing appreciation, the university commended NELFUND for its prompt intervention, noting that the initiative has eased the financial burden on many students.
“I write on behalf of the students of Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, to acknowledge the receipt of the total sum of One Hundred and Twenty-Four Million, One Hundred Thousand and Two Hundred Naira (₦124,100,200) only from the Nigeria Educational Loan Fund (NELFUND) for a total of 481 students as follows,” the letter stated.
The Vice-Chancellor also thanked the agency for its effective management of the loan scheme.
“On behalf of the recipients of the students’ loan, I thank you for this disbursement and for your effective management of the Loan Fund which has benefited the ordinary Nigerian students.
“Thank you and God bless you richly,” the letter added.
