Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, has appeared in court to face charges over alleged false posts targeting President Bola Tinubu.
The Department of State Services (DSS) brought five counts against Sowore, including cybercrimes, defamation, and incitement. The charges are reportedly linked to social media content Sowore allegedly published that authorities claim were false and intended to incite unrest.
The case has attracted national attention, raising concerns among civil society groups and human rights organizations about freedom of expression, social media regulation, and the role of state security agencies in Nigeria.
