The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened online accreditation for media organisations interested in covering the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, 20th June 2026.
Here’s a simple guide on how to apply:
Step 1: Visit the Accreditation Portal
Go to the official INEC media accreditation portal:
https://imap.inecnigeria.org
Step 2: Create or Log In to an Account
New users should register with a valid email address and organisation details.
Returning users should simply log in with their existing credentials.
Step 3: Select Election Coverage
Choose the 2026 bye-elections option
Select the states and constituencies you intend to cover:
- Kano (Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency)
- Kebbi (Zuru State Constituency)
- Ondo (Ondo South Senatorial District)
- Rivers (Rivers South East Senatorial District)
- Nasarawa (Nasarawa North Senatorial District)
- Enugu (Enugu North Senatorial District)
Step 4: Fill in Required Details
- Media organisation information
- List of accredited journalists
- Valid identification details (where required)
Step 5: Submit Application
- Review all details carefully
- Submit your application before the deadline
Important Notice
INEC has warned that late applications will NOT be accepted, so media organisations are advised to complete their accreditation early within the stipulated period.
