The Delta State chapter of the City Boy Movement has pledged to deliver 2.7 million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections, as part of a broader nationwide target of 10 million votes in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The commitment was made during the inauguration of the State Executive of the movement and the unveiling of its secretariat held at the Dome Events Centre in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The newly inaugurated leadership of the movement includes Hon. Karo Goru as State Director, Engr. Alex Omaghomi as Deputy Director, Hon. Innocent Esewezie as State Coordinator, Hon. Shedrach Agediga as Deputy State Coordinator, Engr. Michael Anoka as State Leader, and Comrade Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole as State Secretary.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, described the movement as a growing and well-structured political force capable of delivering on its commitments.
He expressed confidence in the group’s capacity and urged members to intensify efforts in mobilising support across communities in the state.
Guwor further called on the group to actively promote government policies and programmes, noting that many of the Federal Government’s reforms were still being misunderstood by sections of the public.
He specifically urged members to enlighten citizens on key initiatives such as tax reforms, subsidy removal, and youth empowerment programmes, stressing that the movement serves as ambassadors for both President Tinubu and APC candidates across all levels.
According to him, the success of the City Boy Movement would significantly contribute to electoral gains for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
In their remarks, the State Director, Hon. Karo Goru, and State Coordinator, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, reaffirmed the group’s readiness to mobilise grassroots support and ensure Delta State contributes meaningfully to the national vote target.
Delivering a keynote address, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, described the inauguration as a milestone, noting that young people must actively participate in governance and democratic processes.
He said the country was undergoing major economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which, though challenging, were aimed at long-term stability and national growth.
Aniagwu highlighted improvements in economic indicators such as foreign reserves and inflation trends, while also pointing to developments in agriculture, taxation reforms, and the energy sector, including the impact of the Dangote Refinery, as signs of progress.
Also speaking, the National Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Shoga, who formally inaugurated the State Executive, described the movement as a structured platform for youth engagement and leadership development.
He emphasized that the City Boy Movement was not just a political slogan but a disciplined organisation designed to mobilise young Nigerians for active participation in governance.
Shoga urged the new executive to strengthen grassroots structures across all local government areas in Delta State and ensure effective coordination and visibility of the movement.
He stressed that unity, discipline, and organisation were key to achieving the movement’s electoral objectives.
