The Federal Government of Nigeria has formally declared national security emergencies in vulnerable and high-risk areas, authorizing intensified joint operations and directing the sustained deployment of security forces to priority locations.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement on the sidelines of the Nigeria–US security engagement held at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja.
The Minister noted that the recent bilateral engagements between Nigeria and the United States underscore a shared commitment to religious freedom, civilian protection, and a strategic partnership grounded in trust and shared responsibility.
Idris further explained that Nigeria is taking steps to strengthen early warning systems and is developing a national database to provide a single, authoritative source of accurate and verifiable data on casualties arising from violence. This initiative aims to enhance evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and effective security responses across the country.
