Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded a significant operational success with the arrest of a suspected drug supplier linked to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the arrest followed credible intelligence received by troops on January 23, 2026.
According to the statement, the suspect, Hauwa Abulazeez, aged 65, was apprehended in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. She is alleged to be a major supplier of cannabis sativa to Boko Haram elements operating across Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu and Gaya communities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly sourced the illicit drugs from Sarti Baruwa Local Government Area of Taraba State and transported them through established supply routes for onward distribution to terrorist elements and criminal networks within the theatre of operations.
During the operation, troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 30 kilograms.
The military disclosed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation, while follow-up operations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the wider drug trafficking and logistics network supporting terrorist activities in the region.
Operation HADIN KAI stated that the successful operation underscores ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces to disrupt terrorist logistics, cut off illicit supply chains, and weaken criminal support networks fueling insecurity in the North East.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at restoring lasting peace, security, and stability across the region.
