Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major political shift in the state’s leadership.
The governor’s decision follows his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Friday and is scheduled to be formally concluded on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The announcement was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, who said the move is aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kano State and the Federal Government.
According to the statement, Yusuf’s return to the APC is expected to accelerate development projects, enhance security, and improve service delivery across the state.
Governor Yusuf previously belonged to the APC in 2014, during which he won the party’s primary election for the Kano Central Senatorial District.
The statement also revealed that Yusuf will use the occasion to officially launch the APC e-registration exercise in Kano State.
