Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law key amendments to Nigeria’s Electoral Act, including provisions recognising the manual transmission of election results.
According to a report by PUNCH, the signing took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, around 5:00 pm on Wednesday, with principal officers of the National Assembly in attendance.
The updated legislation, part of the Electoral Act 2026, was recently passed by the National Assembly of Nigeria after months of debate, review, and amendments by both chambers of parliament.
While full details of the law are still emerging, the inclusion of manual result transmission marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s electoral framework and is expected to influence how future elections are conducted across the country.
