A 27-year-old woman, identified as Esther Akwaji, reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, FCT.
Sources told SaharaReporters that Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had travelled to the Federal Capital Territory to visit family members. On January 21, she left her family home claiming she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei but never returned.
Hours later, family members reportedly received a phone call from a man identifying himself as Esther’s boyfriend, using her mobile phone. He allegedly told the family that while they were eating, Esther suddenly began vomiting and that he rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
The man allegedly fled the hospital shortly after her death and has remained unreachable since. His identity has not yet been verified, and he is currently being sought by authorities.
Confirming the incident, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police have launched a full investigation. “The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” she said.
Police urged anyone with information about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding Esther’s death to come forward to aid the investigation.
