An associate of popular socialite and music promoter Sam Larry, Akin Abolade, popularly known as Mr Lilgaga, has dismissed widespread rumours claiming that the controversial figure died following a recent road accident in Lagos.
According to a report by PUNCH Online, Abolade confirmed that although Sam Larry was involved in a serious auto crash, he survived the incident and is currently alive.
According to him, he personally spoke with Sam Larry just hours after the accident, putting to rest speculation that the socialite had died.
“Yes, he’s alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be ascertained because of how bad the accident was. We spoke after the accident. He’s alive, and I’m sure of that,” Abolade said.
Sam Larry was reportedly involved in a road accident along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lagos State in the early hours of Saturday.
Reports indicated that the vehicle conveying the music promoter collided with a trailer, leaving the car badly damaged.
A video from the crash scene, which quickly circulated on social media, showed the wreckage of the vehicle and fuelled concerns about Sam Larry’s condition.
The accident reportedly claimed the life of his bouncer, identified simply as Wale, who was said to have died at the scene.
Public attention intensified after comedian and master of ceremonies Mario Wazobia shared posts on Instagram asking Nigerians to pray for Sam Larry.
In one of the posts, the entertainer wrote, “Pray for Sam Larry,” while another revealed that the music promoter had been hospitalised following the accident.
As rumours continued to spread online, some social media users also claimed that Sam Larry had suffered severe leg injuries and could face amputation.
However, Abolade said he could not verify those reports, stressing that he had no confirmed information regarding the extent of the injuries.
