U.S. President Donald Trump has called on streaming giant Netflix to dismiss former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, describing her as “racist” and “deranged” following comments she made about corporations supporting him.
Rice, who currently serves on Netflix’s board of directors, had warned that companies perceived as aligning with Trump could face political repercussions if Democrats regain power in future elections.
Speaking in a video clip circulated on X, Rice suggested that corporations, law firms, universities and media organisations that “kowtow” to Trump may face what she described as an “accountability agenda” if Democrats win the 2026 midterm elections or the 2028 presidential race.
“I think they’re starting to realise, ‘Wait a minute, this is not popular.’ Trump is not popular,” Rice said, referencing policy areas such as the economy and immigration.
She further warned that corporations showing short-term political alignment could be “held accountable” by those who return to office in opposition to Trump.
Rice previously served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2009 to 2013 during the first term of former President Barack Obama. She later became National Security Adviser from 2013 to 2017. Rice joined Netflix’s board in 2018, stepped down in 2020, and rejoined in 2023.
Responding on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump sharply criticised Rice and urged Netflix to remove her from its board.
“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences,” Trump wrote.
He further questioned her qualifications and compensation, adding: “She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK.”
Trump’s post also referenced a clip shared by conservative activist Laura Loomer that featured Rice’s comments.
Neither Netflix nor Rice had publicly responded to Trump’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
