The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has advised citizens to prioritize their safety and avoid confronting criminals in dangerous situations.
The warning was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
“In the unfortunate event that you find yourself among criminals, do not struggle, do not fight, just stay calm and save your life first. We can always go after these criminals to have them arrested,” Hundeyin said.
Hundeyin emphasized that citizens should remain calm and avoid engaging armed or violent criminals. He noted that the police are trained to pursue and apprehend offenders, and that confronting criminals personally could endanger lives.
The spokesperson also highlighted recent successes in tackling criminal networks, including the notorious ‘One-Chance’ gangs operating in parts of Abuja.
“We’ve achieved a lot in the area of arrests of this One-Chance syndicate. Just recently, a few days ago, we arrested the gang behind the murder of that lawyer, and the phone has been recovered,” Hundeyin added.
The NPF continues to urge Nigerians to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activities to ensure both their safety and the apprehension of criminals.
