Prominent businessman and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has officially received his appointment letter as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, presented by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
Obi Cubana shared the milestone on his Instagram page on Tuesday, revealing that Seyi Tinubu visited his residence on Monday night to formally hand over the certificate of appointment.
“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.
The Anambra-born entrepreneur said the meeting also provided the platform to discuss issues of national interest, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement for achieving meaningful change.
Reacting to public opinions on his new role, Obi Cubana defended his decision, noting that real influence comes from active participation, not standing on the sidelines.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he stated.
Declaring his loyalty to the movement, the nightlife entrepreneur added:
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside — so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out.”
He assured the public that the appointment would not compromise his personal values, community work, or leadership principles, noting that President Bola Tinubu is “a City Boy and a man of commerce.” Obi Cubana stressed that his focus will be on promoting inclusiveness and national unity.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.
He further urged Nigerians to maintain tolerance and respect differing opinions, while keeping their focus on national development.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now — we move!”
Obi Cubana concluded by thanking supporters for their goodwill and pledging his commitment to a more inclusive and progressive future through his new role in the City Boy Movement.
