The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that the Law programme at Lead City University remains under a five-year suspension, warning that admissions into the faculty are invalid.
In a statement issued by its Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the examination body clarified that it did not authorise the admission of candidates into the university’s Faculty of Law.
According to JAMB, the admissions in question were not processed through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) — the only approved platform for processing admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The board said it had received several complaints from members of the public accusing it of negligence for allegedly allowing students to gain admission into the Law Faculty despite the existing suspension.
However, JAMB described the development as unfortunate and misleading, emphasising that any admission conducted outside CAPS is illegal and invalid.
“The Board wishes to state clearly that the Law programme at Lead City University remains under suspension and any admission conducted outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) does not have the approval of JAMB,” the statement said.
The board further advised prospective candidates and parents to exercise caution when accepting admission offers, urging them to always verify their admission status on the official JAMB CAPS portal before proceeding with registration.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and strict compliance with admission guidelines across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
