Controversial singer Portable has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State over multiple charges, including assault and theft.
The arraignment on Monday follows a viral video showing the singer in police custody over a complaint reportedly filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
According to Ogun Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, the charges include assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest. Portable is accused of attacking Ashabi, several police officers, and other individuals at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day.
Other alleged victims in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah. He is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at N12 million, registered to Ileyemi through Wally Dex Auto.
During the hearing, two siblings of Ashabi testified as witnesses, though she was not present. Police also allege that Portable assaulted a female inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was performing her official duties.
The presiding judge denied bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. Portable has been remanded in custody until a fresh bail hearing on January 19.
The Ogun State Police Command has also launched an investigation into a viral video showing Portable allegedly being assaulted while in custody.
This is not Portable’s first encounter with the law. In May 2025, a magistrate court in Ifo LGA, Ogun State, sentenced him to three months in prison for assault following a 2022 incident in which he allegedly attacked Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi in Okeosa, Ilogbo.
Portable has also faced allegations of stealing musical equipment, including a Yamaha H55 studio monitor, a studio interface connection cable, and an AKG P420 condenser microphone.
