Lagos and Ogun states ride-hailing drivers launched a three-day strike on Monday, March 16, 2026, suspending operations on Uber, Bolt, and inDrive platforms.
The action, organised by the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria, will run until Wednesday, March 18. Drivers demand lower commissions and fairer terms from the ride-hailing companies.
Driver Bashir announced the strike in a viral TikTok video, warning passengers that ride requests may go unanswered for hours during the protest period.
“Drivers are not your enemy. They are only requesting for their rights — lower commission and balanced partnership,” Bashir said.
A public notice advised commuters to use alternative transport like BRT, plan trips ahead, avoid unsafe pick-up spots, and limit late-night travel due to reduced ride availability.
