The United Kingdom chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Persons with Disabilities and Mental Health communities, has said President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming visit to the United Kingdom underscores Nigeria’s growing relevance on the global stage.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group described the visit as a strategic move that will strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and the UK while advancing inclusive governance and international cooperation.
President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu are scheduled to embark on the visit from March 18 to 19, 2026, with a focus on deepening collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, immigration, and cultural exchange.
The statement, jointly signed by the group’s leader, Ayorinde Amoko, and Deputy Leader, Funmi Adesanya, noted that the trip represents a significant milestone in reinforcing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between both nations.
According to the group, the visit reflects increasing global recognition of Nigeria’s strategic role in international affairs and highlights the Tinubu administration’s commitment to fostering strong global partnerships.
They also expressed optimism about the government’s policies on inclusion, noting that recent efforts toward social equity and empowerment have resonated with Nigerians, particularly those living with disabilities and mental health challenges.
The group said the visit presents an opportunity to expand cooperation in areas such as healthcare, education, disability inclusion, economic empowerment, and social protection for vulnerable populations.
It further stated that stronger Nigeria–UK partnerships would help build systems that promote dignity, protect rights, and create equal opportunities for all citizens.
Reaffirming their support for the administration, the APC UK group commended President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to building a more inclusive Nigeria where no one is left behind.
Meanwhile, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier disclosed that the visit would include engagements with British authorities aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
He added that the British monarch is expected to host the President and his wife at Windsor Castle, where they will also view items from the Royal Collection linked to Nigeria.
Top government officials accompanying the President include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and other senior cabinet members.
