The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has removed ACP Benjamin Hundeyin from his role as Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), barely six months after he assumed the position. The sudden development was approved on Thursday, March 5, 2026, amid ongoing restructuring within the police hierarchy following the appointment of Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Hundeyin’s removal comes as the NPF undergoes a shake-up in key positions at its headquarters, following the exit of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who led the force from 2023 until last week. A source familiar with the matter confirmed to THE WHISTLER: “The Force Public Relations Officer has been removed this morning.”
As of now, the identity of Hundeyin’s replacement remains unknown, with uncertainty surrounding who will lead the force’s communications at a time when operational activities have intensified across the country. The source added, “We thought he would last longer considering his expertise. However, when a new IGP is appointed, changes at key positions are not unusual, and unfortunately, he was affected.”
At the time of this report, Hundeyin has yet to issue an official statement.
