The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee has announced a major policy shift barring transgender women from competing in female sports categories, a move that aligns with directives introduced under former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The decision comes as the United States intensifies preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games scheduled to be held in Los Angeles.
According to reports by FOXNEWS, the updated policy directs national governing bodies under the USOPC to restrict participation in women’s events to athletes classified as biological females, citing the need to ensure fairness and safety in competition.
The development follows an executive order signed by Trump in 2025, which seeks to exclude transgender women from female sporting categories and ties compliance to federal standards and funding requirements.
