A native doctor who allegedly promised Mali victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been arrested after the West African nation was knocked out of the tournament.
According to information shared by Africa Facts Zone on X (formerly Twitter), the spiritualist reportedly collected €33,500 after assuring his clients that Mali would go on to win the AFCON tournament.
“A Native Doctor who promised Mali victory at the 2025 AFCON, after being paid €33,500 has been arrested.”
Africa Facts Zone added that despite the alleged spiritual intervention, Mali’s campaign ended at the quarter-final stage, where they were eliminated by Senegal.
While details surrounding the arrest remain limited, the incident has sparked widespread reactions online.
