Governor Charles Soludo has been officially sworn in for a second term as the Governor of Anambra State, following his decisive victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in the state capital, Awka, on Tuesday. Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.
The event attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, among other state governors and dignitaries.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Soludo the winner of the governorship election, in which he polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes, and Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), who came third with 37,753 votes.
A total of 16 candidates from various political parties contested the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast, including 11,244 rejected votes across the 21 local government areas. Soludo’s victory was comprehensive, as he won in all 21 LGAs, marking a decisive landslide for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
