The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, scheduled for August 8, 2026, with notable absences including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other major parties.
According to Musa Olurode, INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Osun State, the parties cleared to field candidates are;
- Accord (A)
- Action Alliance (AA)
- African Action Congress (AAC)
- African Democratic Congress (ADC)
- Action Democratic Party (ADP)
- All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
- All Progressives Congress (APC)

- Action Peoples Party (APP)
- Boot Party (BP)
- New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)

The exclusion of the PDP and other major parties has generated speculation among political observers and voters, though INEC has not provided a detailed explanation for their absence.
