Prominent businessman Obi Cubana has publicly announced his backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu via the newly launched City Boy Movement, a youth-focused initiative aimed at educating and empowering communities for national development.
Speaking during a meeting with the Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, Cubana emphasized that the movement is not a political party, but a platform supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid while fostering community growth.
He said, “The unique thing about this movement is that it’s made up of young people, mostly businessmen, not politicians. Our goal is the betterment of our neighbors. Our people lack knowledge, and our work is mostly to educate, to give orientation, and to reorient them—to know whether they are well-acquainted with our collective path forward.”
Cubana further stressed the importance of unity and regional inclusion, stating: “Today, we believe in the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We, as young professionals and successful businessmen, have come out to tell our people that we are solidly behind Mr. President and his re-election bid. Any Igbo has to be taken to the center. We cannot always be doing divisive politics. There must be balance, and there must be recognition of every region, because there’s a lot to be done here. We have to be connected to the gas, to the rail.”
He highlighted the need for constructive engagement with the Federal Government, adding: “If we are all in opposition to this government, eventually we won’t be remembered. We stand on Bola Tinubu’s mandate. The City Boy Movement is about the progress of Igbo land. Our people lack knowledge, and it is my responsibility to educate them. We stand solidly behind Tinubu.”
The City Boy Movement, according to Cubana, seeks to empower young people, particularly Igbo youths and entrepreneurs, by providing education, awareness, and opportunities to actively participate in national development while supporting Tinubu’s leadership.
