Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo has weighed in on the ongoing political tension in Rivers State, urging Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former governor Nyesom Wike to step aside if they are unable to resolve their differences.
In a viral video, Okonkwo criticised the prolonged feud between the political allies, describing it as harmful to governance and the people of Rivers State.
“Fubara and Wike should step aside. If they can’t agree, new people will come and take charge of Rivers State,” Okonkwo said.
He questioned the persistence of the crisis between the two leaders, who share a long-standing political relationship, noting that their disagreement has gone beyond personal rivalry and is now affecting residents of the state.
“How can a godfather and a godson not agree? Their quarrel is negatively affecting the people of Rivers,” he added.
Okonkwo also proposed a political solution to the crisis, urging Rivers residents to consider voting out leaders associated with the conflict in future elections.
“The solution is very simple: they should just vote ADC and vote out their problem,” he said.
As of the time of this report, neither Governor Fubara nor Wike has responded publicly to Okonkwo’s comments.
