ASABA — Solomon Arenyeka has been elected as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, following a high-profile state congress that drew delegates and party stakeholders from across the region.
Arenyeka, the immediate past State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), assumes leadership after the PDP’s Delta State structures were integrated into the APC in May 2025. The move followed the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and key members of his administration from the PDP to the APC, triggering a major political realignment in the state.
APC Chieftains describe Arenyeka’s election as a consolidation of the merger, aimed at unifying former PDP stakeholders within the APC framework. Sources say his leadership will focus on strengthening grassroots mobilization across Delta’s 25 local government areas, harmonizing internal party interests, and preparing the party for upcoming 2027 election.
