Leo Edochie, son of Nollywood veteran Pete Edochie, has dismissed circulating reports claiming that the 78-year-old actor is dead, assuring fans that his father is alive and in good health.
The false claim originated on X, with a user alleging that Pete Edochie had passed away in a hospital under “unknown circumstances” and that the actor’s “elder son” had confirmed it.
“Nollywood actor Pete Edochie have just passed away at the age of 78 after being rushed to the hospital last due to unknown circumstances. His elder son have confirmed the passing of Pete Edochie this morning on his IG,” the post read.
Reacting to the rumour, Leo Edochie described it as a “lie from the pit of hell”, condemning those spreading misinformation.
“I have been receiving calls over some nonsense that people have been posting that our father has died. It’s a lie from the pit of hell, our father is not just alive but hale and hearty,” Leo said.
He also criticised those wishing harm on his father, warning of consequences for spreading falsehoods.
“If you wish someone died, two things happen: he lives very long, and you will die before him. Shame on all of you, God punish you,” he added.
Leo’s statement reassures fans and the public that Pete Edochie remains in good health, urging everyone to verify news before sharing online.
