Musician Kid Rock has publicly criticized Bad Bunny’s performance as the headliner of the Super Bowl LX halftime show, describing it as “a middle finger to conservatives,” after leading a rival broadcast during the game.
Kid Rock was featured on Turning Point USA’s alternative All American Halftime Show, a livestreamed counterprogram organized by the conservative group as a response to the NFL’s official halftime performance.
In comments following his appearance, Rock said the choice of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl stage felt like a provocation to his conservative fan base. He told commentators the NFL “put [Bad Bunny] in that position,” and framed the alternative performance as a necessary option for viewers who disagreed with the official selection.
Rock acknowledged that Bad Bunny’s show wasn’t his personal preference and admitted he “didn’t understand any of it,” but said he didn’t blame the artist himself. Instead, he said his frustration was directed at the league’s decision and the cultural statements it represents.
The Turning Point USA show, which also featured other country acts, was intended to celebrate traditional American values according to the organizers. However, it drew significantly smaller viewership and mixed reactions compared with Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, which was widely seen and sparked debates across entertainment and political spheres.
Criticism and commentary on both performances have flooded social media and media outlets with some celebrating Bad Bunny’s culturally vibrant show and others rallying behind the alternative broadcast as a statement of conservative identity.
