Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has addressed the renewed tension between her colleagues Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, clarifying that while past disagreements existed, the actresses had previously reconciled.
In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Ojo explained that she had personally mediated peace between Funke and Toyin months ago, ensuring that prior misunderstandings were resolved. “I tried my very best to settle both of them, cried, knelt down, begged both parties to embrace peace, which they both later did,” she wrote.
Ojo noted that tensions resurfaced in December following Toyin’s complaints about the reception of one of her films, which some fans mistakenly attributed to Funke. “Fans wrongly directed their anger toward Funke, sparking a fresh dispute,” she said.
The actress also addressed Toyin’s last-minute withdrawal from her latest movie, The Return of Arinzo, citing exhaustion and travel commitments. “I was upset because it cost me a lot to rewrite the story, but the show must go on. She apologized, we made up, and the rest is history,” Ojo added.
Reflecting on the situation, Ojo urged fans to respect her decision to step back from mediating between the two actresses. “Honestly, all this saddened me because the sky is big enough for all. I have tried my best, but at this point, I can’t beg anyone anymore. I honestly don’t want to get involved anymore. Please, you all should respect that. When both parties are ready, they will make peace. I love them both regardless,” she said.
The renewed public interest in Funke and Toyin’s relationship follows a viral video from the Sunday premiere of the return of arinzo at the Balmoral Event Centre in Lagos, where Abraham was seen exchanging pleasantries with Ojo and other colleagues, while Akindele appeared not to acknowledge her as she walked past.
Ojo’s film is set to premiere nationwide on April 3, 2026.
