A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Odigie, has filed a lawsuit against popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, demanding N395 million in damages over an alleged defamation and privacy breach following a viral altercation at a Lagos lounge.
In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, and signed by Bola Osineye of FA Garrick & Co., the claimant’s lawyers accused the influencer of verbally abusing their client and recording her without consent during a confrontation that occurred in the early hours of January 6, 2026.
According to the letter, the incident happened at Folixxx Lounge along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State, where Odigie had reportedly gone to purchase food.
The lawyers stated that their client was standing at the cashier area when she was startled by a loud outburst from Peller, prompting her to move away from him.
They alleged that the influencer confronted her after noticing that she had stepped aside and demanded to know why she moved.

According to the legal team, the situation escalated when Peller allegedly ordered the woman to “shut up” and began verbally abusing her using Yoruba insults, including “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale,” and “Ashawo.”
The lawyers described the remarks as false, humiliating and defamatory, adding that they were made publicly with the intention of ridiculing their client.
They further alleged that Peller proceeded to record the confrontation on his mobile phone without the woman’s consent and later shared the video across multiple social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp.
According to the claimant’s lawyers, the video quickly went viral due to the influencer’s large following, attracting thousands of comments and exposing their client to widespread ridicule and cyberbullying.
“Owing to your substantial online presence and following as a streamer and public influencer, the video went viral almost immediately… triggering thousands of comments, many of which reiterated and amplified your defamatory remarks against her,” the letter stated.
The claimant said the viral video caused reputational damage, emotional distress and fears for her safety.
“Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety,” the lawyers added.
As part of the demands, the woman is seeking N200 million as compensation for the alleged defamatory publication, N100 million for emotional trauma and reputational harm, and N75 million for distress allegedly caused by cyberbullying and threats from members of the public.
She is also requesting N20 million to cover legal fees and other related costs.
In addition to the monetary demands, the claimant asked Peller to immediately stop further publication of the video, remove the content from all his social media platforms and issue a public apology.
The apology, according to the letter, must be published on his social media pages and in two national newspaper, The Punch and The Guardian, acknowledging that the statements were false and damaging to the claimant’s reputation.
The lawyers also demanded that the influencer notify third-party blogs and platforms where the video may have been reposted and ensure that the content is taken down within seven days.
They warned that failure to comply with the demands would lead to the commencement of legal proceedings.
The lawsuit follows a confrontation between Peller and the woman at the Lagos lounge on January 6, which later circulated widely on social media.
Following the backlash that trailed the incident, Peller had issued a public apology on January 9, admitting that his reaction during the altercation was out of character and expressing regret over the incident.
