President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed that Nigeria will not yield to terror, following the recent attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State.
In a statement from the State House, he expressed deep condolences to the victims and urged solidarity with the affected communities.
Describing the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists to instill fear, President Tinubu praised the courage of Nigerian troops who successfully repelled coordinated assaults on military positions. He stressed that the armed forces and security agencies are under constant pressure to keep the nation safe.
“These acts of terror are the final desperate attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear,” he said. “There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.”
The President disclosed that during a security meeting last weekend, he approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies, which are already being implemented. Security chiefs have been directed to move to Maiduguri to oversee operations, while emergency agencies are providing care for the injured.
Describing the Monday attacks as acts of “evil-minded terrorist groups,” President Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s determination to strengthen security measures and protect civilians.
“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he concluded, commending the bravery of both military personnel and civilian task forces engaged in the fight against terrorism.
