The Philippines has declared a national energy emergency amid growing concerns over fuel supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to a report by CHANNELS, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made the announcement on Tuesday, warning that the escalating geopolitical tensions pose a serious threat to the country’s energy stability.
“A state of national energy emergency is hereby declared in light of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and the resulting imminent danger posed upon the availability and stability of the country’s energy supply,” Marcos said in an executive order.
The declaration comes as global oil markets remain volatile due to the Middle East crisis, raising fears of supply shortages and rising fuel prices for countries heavily dependent on imports, including the Philippines.
